Pocket Aces has launched Jambo, a ‘desi’ animation content platform that creates content across the duration spectrum, ranging from less than a minute to 3-5 minutes, and full-fledged multi-episode web series targeted at the young audience.

Talking about the idea behind the content platform’s concept, Anirudh Pandita, Co-Founder, Pocket Aces, said, “We’re a generation that grew up on animated content and cartoons. Yet Indian animation content seems to stop when we become adults. Why should it stop? Content can change but the animated format is something that we all treasure. With Jambo’s launch, we are challenging the thinking that adults don’t enjoy cartoons and animated content.”

Pandita said animations allow us to make the absurd real and express our daily human reality in ways that live action video cannot do. “The scale and simplicity will allow us to tell many more stories in a far more interesting and engaging manner. We are hopeful that consumers across even future generations will find the character universally relatable and reflective of the human condition,” he added.

Jambo has already started receiving queries from the brands for their content requirements. Pandita said, “We’re already receiving advertiser interest and we are working with them to create engaging offerings for our audience. We look at advertisers as our partners and together we will deliver path-breaking entertainment for audiences.”

The channel’s name origins from the Swahili salutation used similarly to ‘Hello!’. Pandita said, “With our content, we want to bring a smile to your face that ‘hello’ is supposed to bring to you. We sat together and came up with many different names. We picked a name that was easy to pronounce for audiences across the country.”

Pocket Aces, which owns FilterCopy (short videos), Gobble (food and lifestyle videos) and Dice Media (long-form videos), has delivered many popular web series such as ‘What the Folks’ and ‘Little Things’ to its audience.

Earlier this year, the content company secured a funding of Rs 100 crore from Sequoia India, DSP Group, 3one4 Capital, and other prominent investors. With this funding in place, the company plans to invest in technology, content and talent.
