These writers will be available to answer questions about travel, and solo travel in particular, in a special AMA (ask me anything) session to be hosted on Twitter.

On August 15, travel enthusiasts can tweet their questions @Cleartrip about all things related to travel, and solo travel in particular, with the hashtag #AskCleartrip for the writers to answer. Panellists who will be part of the meet-up include Ekta Poddar, Neelima Vallangi, Ambika Vishwanath, Srinath Perur and Shrenik Avlani.

Ashish Dhruva, VP Marketing, Cleartrip, said, “More Indians are discovering the joys of travelling solo and exploring new destinations, while there are several others who want to experience solo travel but have a lot of questions about it.The digital meet-up and AMA session will offer such travel enthusiasts a great opportunity to have their questions about solo travel answered by some of the most renowned travel influencers in the country.”

The influencers will also share stories that offer unique perspectives to travelling independently on the Cleartrip Stories to help solo travellers or who want to explore the joy of solo travelling, learn from some first-hand experience.

Solo travel has been one trend that has seen a meteoric rise over the past couple of years, as an increasing number of Indians, including a considerable number of women, are joining the solo travel bandwagon.

On Cleartrip, bookings for solo travel bookings in the domestic segment rose considerably by 19% year-on-year (YOY) in 2018, with the trend showing no signs of stopping. Solo bookings for people travelling from one tier-1 city to another accounted for 51% of the total bookings. At the same time, solo bookings from tier-2 cities also rose by 42% on the platform. The top domestic destinations for solo bookings on the platform included Goa, Pune, Jaipur, Bhubaneswar and Srinagar.

In the international travel segment, Cleartrip saw a 10% YOY growth in solo bookings with destinations like Dubai, Bangkok, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur being the most popular among Indian travellers. The Middle East was the most popular region in terms of the number of total bookings among solo travellers, who contributed to 40% of the bookings, with couples and group travellers contributing 25% each.
