New Delhi: Pocket FM has released a new chapter of its Sound of Courage series, telling the story of young girls in Rajasthan who are defying social norms through football, ahead of the International Day of the Girl Child,.
Produced in collaboration with the Mahila Jan Adhikar Samiti (MJAS), the film documents how these girls transformed an open patch of land into a football field, gaining a sense of freedom and self-worth that previous generations could scarcely imagine.
The film was conceptualised and produced by Pocket Entertainment’s in-house creative team in collaboration with Colonial Films.
The girls, who previously faced limited access to education and early marriage, used sports as a tool for personal growth and community change. Over time, their football initiative inspired the wider community to question traditional expectations, creating a space where equality and self-belief could flourish.
“Football gave us permission to dream,” said Maina Choudhary, one of the players featured in the film. “When we play, nobody tells us who we can or cannot be.”
The initiative has had measurable effects: more girls are continuing their education, families are encouraging daughters to step outside, and instances of child marriage in the area have declined. Some players have also gone on to represent their district at the state level.
“In today’s world, it’s easy to get lost in the noise. With Sound of Courage, we want to bring forward unique and unheard stories across the world that lift our spirits and remind us what courage truly looks like,” said Vineet Singh, SVP, Brands, Pocket Entertainment.
“The story of these Rajasthan girls reminds us that real change begins quietly when people are given a voice, a chance, and the space to dream. This film is a celebration of everyone who dares to rise above limitations and redefine what’s possible.”
The Rajasthan chapter follows an earlier story in the Sound of Courage series featuring the Indian Women’s Ice Hockey Team, extending the series’ focus from national-level achievements to grassroots empowerment.
