New Delhi: Tinder is bringing a darkly humorous twist to dating this Halloween with Dating Scaries, a three-part video series that reimagines some of the most unsettling aspects of modern relationships, from ghosting and gaslighting to situationships.
The series features well-known actors Urvashi Dholakia, Rajat Bedi, and Dalip Tahil, who revisit their iconic villain personas to highlight common red flags in dating culture with a dose of satire.
According to the company, Dating Scaries reflects Tinder’s ongoing engagement with young adults navigating contemporary relationships, blending entertainment with messages about honesty, communication, and emotional awareness.
“With Dating Scaries, our goal is to bring a playful, self-aware lens to modern dating. Humour is central to how Gen Z connects with love and relationships, and this series captures that perfectly," said Aditi Shorewal, Communications Lead for Tinder in India and Korea.
She added, "It’s a lighthearted reminder that even when dating feels tough, being honest, self-aware, and communicative makes all the difference. This is our commitment to today’s young dater - to help them have a healthy, safe and fun dating experience,”
The first episode, Gaslighting, stars Urvashi Dholakia reprising her memorable role as Komolika Basu, complete with her signature hair flicks and dramatic flair, as she playfully exposes manipulative dating behaviour.
The episode ends with the reminder that “Gaslighting can be scary, and explosive, to your dating life. Stay honest, stay happy. Issued in dating interest, love Tinder.”
Subsequent episodes, Situationships and Ghosting, feature Rajat Bedi and Dalip Tahil, respectively, exploring the confusion and emotional detachment that often accompany modern dating. The short films use tongue-in-cheek dialogue and self-awareness to encourage viewers to recognise and avoid toxic patterns.
Bedi’s character remarks, “Tigers labels ke bina bhi tigers hote hain. We don’t need labels,” while Tahil delivers the line, “Beta, you want dopamine, not diabetes. Ghost him!” Both episodes conclude with the daters asserting their emotional clarity, underscoring that transparency and communication are essential to healthy relationships.
