New Delhi: Instagram has introduced a series of updates to its Insights dashboard, providing creators with more detailed information about how audiences are interacting with their content.

Among the key additions is the ability for Reels creators to see when a viewer liked their clip within the video timeline. This feature is expected to offer a clearer understanding of which specific segments of a Reel generated the most positive engagement, potentially informing future content decisions. The update mirrors similar engagement tracking tools already offered by platforms like YouTube.

In another development, creators posting carousels will now be able to view which individual image was being viewed when a user tapped the Like button. Although this may not definitively reflect why a like was given, it offers a closer look at user behaviour within multi-image posts.

Instagram has also added post-level demographic data, enabling account holders to break down engagement by audience characteristics for each piece of content.

Additionally, the platform will now highlight posts that have contributed the most to follower growth, offering a more direct way to link content performance with audience expansion.

The platform is also shifting its analytics emphasis by replacing the “Accounts Reached” graph with “Views” as the primary metric across posts, Stories and videos. This move follows earlier efforts announced in 2024 to consolidate performance metrics around view counts.
