New Delhi: Amid a growing debate over copyright enforcement on digital platforms, the Press Trust of India (PTI) has announced that it will offer licensed access to its video content at affordable rates for individual content creators across YouTube and other social media platforms.
The move comes shortly after a controversy involving news agency ANI, which issued multiple copyright strikes against YouTube channels for unauthorised use of its video footage. The action has prompted a wider industry conversation around fair use, licensing models, and the often costly process of settling copyright claims online.
In a public statement posted on X, PTI said, “As India's most trusted news agency, we at Press Trust of India remain committed to credible journalism and ethical business practices. To support responsible content creation, we offer individual YouTube creators highly affordable access to PTI videos.”

While ANI’s copyright enforcement has been defended as legally justified, some creators have expressed concern over the financial burden and lack of clarity around such copyright strikes — issues PTI appears to be addressing with its new licensing approach.
