New Delhi: Monk-E, the media and talent management firm has posted an unconventional job opening that has quickly become a talking point on LinkedIn.
The company is recruiting what it calls “doomscrollers”, people who spend significant amounts of time on platforms such as Instagram and YouTube. Viraj Sheth, Monk-E’s co-founder and chief executive, announced the vacancy on LinkedIn, describing the profile as best suited to heavy users of social media who follow creator culture closely.
Among the requirements listed is proof of more than six hours of daily screen time on Instagram and YouTube. Other qualities include an interest in emerging creators, a regular habit of browsing creator-related communities such as the r/ICG subreddit, and fluency in English and Hindi. Applicants are also expected to be familiar with basic tools like spreadsheets.
Sheth explained that in this context “doomscrolling” refers to monitoring trends and developments across the creator ecosystem. The position is full-time and based in Mumbai.
The advert has prompted a wide mix of reactions online. Some LinkedIn users described the opening as unusual yet appealing, while others remarked that their own digital routines made them “well qualified” for the post.
Candidates have been asked to submit their applications by email with “doomscroller” in the subject line, and to display creativity and personality in their messages rather than relying on AI tools.
