New Delhi: Meta’s social platform Threads is introducing features designed to support podcast creators and strengthen conversations around audio content. The update will allow users to share podcast links that appear with distinctive designs, colourful backgrounds, and image thumbnails, making them easier to identify in the feed.
According to TechCrunch, a Meta spokesperson confirmed that the new features are part of the company’s efforts to help creators promote their shows and engage with listeners. The rollout is expected to begin with visual updates for podcast links before expanding to include additional creator tools.
On its official Threads account, the platform posted, “Got a podcast? We want to hear it - and hear about it! We’re testing podcast previews to make it easy for fans of your threads to find your show. To add your podcast to your profile, select ‘Edit profile,’ then ‘Podcast.’ Just paste in the link and tap ‘Done.’”
Creators will also have the option to add a dedicated podcast section to their profile, making it easier for users to find and access their shows. The development reflects a wider move to encourage community engagement between podcasters and audiences on Threads.
Meta views this as an opportunity to position Threads as a central space for podcast-related discussions, currently spread across platforms such as Reddit, X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Spotify. The TechCrunch report cited Threads’ growing user base, which includes over 400 million monthly active users and 150 million daily active users, as the company continues to expand its presence in the creator ecosystem.
The company clarified that Threads does not intend to operate as a podcast hosting or distribution service. Instead, it plans to introduce tools and analytics that help creators understand audience engagement and simplify podcast discovery on the platform.
Earlier this year, Threads added functionality that allowed users to include up to five links on their profile, as well as a feature to share longer posts using text attachments. More podcast-related updates and community interaction tools are expected to roll out over the coming months.
