New Delhi: Instagram has introduced a feature that lets users reshare any public Story, even if they were not tagged in it. When viewing Stories from public accounts, an “Add to Story” button now appears, allowing users to repost the content while automatically crediting the original creator.

The reshared Story displays the username of the original poster, ensuring attribution is preserved. The update applies only to public accounts, and Stories from private profiles remain limited to approved followers and cannot be reshared.

Instagram confirmed the development through a Threads post and noted that creators who do not wish to have their content reshared can disable the “Allow sharing to Story” option in their privacy settings. The update is intended to make Story sharing more straightforward while maintaining control for public creators.

Users can access the feature by opening a public Story and selecting the share icon, which presents the option to add it to their own Story. The reshared content appears with automatic attribution, similar to how Reels can be reposted. The feature has begun rolling out globally across both iOS and Android, and several users have already reported seeing it available.
