New Delhi: YouTube has updated its Promote feature, giving creators greater control over campaigns designed to drive traffic to external websites.

The platform now allows users setting a campaign goal of “more website visits” to select a specific call to action, such as “Book now,” “Get quote,” or “Contact us.” The change was announced during YouTube’s weekly news update for creators.

Previously, Promote campaigns for website traffic offered broader objectives. The update enables more precise targeting of intended outcomes. For instance, a consulting service could pair its campaign with a “Get quote” button, while an event organiser might choose “Book now.” YouTube stated that this adjustment is intended to help creators better link video promotion with measurable results.

Promote is YouTube’s built-in ad creation tool, accessible directly in YouTube Studio. It allows campaigns for Shorts and standard videos without requiring the Google Ads interface. Users can create campaigns to gain more subscribers, increase video views, or drive visits to a website. Campaign creation and management occur within YouTube Studio’s Promotions tab, simplifying the process for creators with limited advertising experience.

For creators and marketing teams, the update provides a clearer way to track performance and align advertising spend with defined outcomes. It also offers insight into how video campaigns contribute to broader marketing objectives.
