Slice, a payments and credit start-up catering mostly to young people, has started the search for its Chief Meme Officer.

Memes are the language of the internet. In the words of the meme overlord, Elon Musk, ‘Who controls the memes, controls the Universe’. Therefore, Slice is looking for its Elon Musk in the fintech world, someone who can talk the language of the customers. The start-up’s target audience is largely between 16-35-year-olds.

Talking about the new role, the company said, “We're currently a team of eight and are looking to grow two-fold in the coming months. As a typical start-up, we have a classic 0-1 problem to solve. Social media, website building, better blogs, communication with our customers, copywriting on the app, etc. We have problems galore and want folks who can roll up their sleeves and are up for a challenge. While not fixing problems, we love talking about movies, dissecting TV shows and discussing books.”

The memes are short-form, snack-able, quick content. To get the role, the ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of virality, what works in the social age, and be adept at popular events every day. The meme officer will be promised all the perks of joining a fast-paced, hyper-growth start-up that aims to disrupt the payments space.

The fintech payments start-up Slice raised Rs 165 crore in debt funding from several financial institutions in the last financial year. The investors include Gunosy Capital, Das Capital, Finup, Blume Ventures India, Simile Venture Partner, EMVC, Tracxn Labs, Better Capital, Sachin Bansal's Navi, and angel investors such as Kunal Shah. Slice currently caters to more than three million users.
