During the first day of Instagram’s Creator’s Week, Mark Zuckerberg announced new ways for creators to make money. In a few months’ time, Instagram will start testing a native affiliate tool that will allow creators to recommend products available on checkout, share them with followers and earn commissions for sales that their posts drive.

The same was updated on the Instagram blog. The post mentioned, “In the coming months, we’ll begin testing a native affiliate tool that will allow creators to discover new products available on checkout, share them with their followers and earn commissions for the purchases they drive — all within the Instagram app.

When any creator will make such posts, the label ‘eligible for commission’ will appear beneath their username in the same way as the sponsored content label appears. The sellers can set their own commission rates.

According to Instagram, the native affiliate tool will first be tested with a small group of US-based creators and businesses, including Benefit, Kopari, MAC, Pat McGrath Labs and Sephora.

Instagram is also launching other shopping tools for creators. The creators who have their own product lines can now link their shop to their personal profile in addition to their business profile. This will help the creators display and sell their products directly to fans. This feature was rolled out globally yesterday.

The Instagram creators can earn extra payout when they meet certain milestones while using ‘Badges’ in Instagram Live, such as going Live with another account.

Another initiative ‘Star Challenges’ was launched on Facebook, enabling creators to earn payouts from the social network in the form of free ‘Stars’ upon meeting certain milestones, such as broadcasting a certain number of hours or earning a set number of Stars within a designated time period.
