Sochcast Media appoints Garima Surana as new CEO

Surana will succeed outgoing CEO Anil Srivatsa, who will now assume responsibilities as President of the company and Board

Audio platform for women Sochcast has announced that Garima Surana has been appointed as new CEO of the company.

An experienced creator and astute business leader, Surana succeeds outgoing CEO Anil Srivatsa. She assumed the new responsibilities on April 1, 2022. 

Co-Founder and CEO Anil Srivatsa, launched Sochcast in August 2020 and was instrumental in growing the content pipeline, vision and strategy for Sochcast including the acquisition of Podcash, where the founders, Surana and Ronit Roy joined Team Sochcast as Co-Founders with Srivatsa and Harvinderjit Singh Bhatia.

Srivatsa will now assume responsibilities as President of the company and Board.

A sochcaster herself and with a brilliant business acumen, I believe she is the right choice,” he added.

Surana said, “A nation is as strong as the voice of its women. Sochcast is building the next generation of meaningful conversations by women, for all. The past one year, we’ve amplified women's voices in 9+ languages proliferated across 51 categories with Sochcasters successfully monetising their content to boot. My role at Sochcast is now to have empowering conversations with women of new India, launching new creator tools, enabling content discovery and driving innovation. I’m deeply humbled that the management put their trust in me and I look forward to democratising the Indian audio landscape with one soch at a time.”

Before joining the company, Surana founded Podcash, a marketplace to bridge the gap between advertisers and creators, and won Afaqs Digies 2020 for Best use of Podcast for a Brand. She has served strategic positions as Corporate Communications Consultant at Tata Sons and spearheaded the Music vertical at Optimal Media Solutions (Times Of India Group Company). She is also a visiting faculty at Indian School of Media, Mumbai.

Surana is a Masters of Mass Communication from AJK Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia and a BEC Scholar.
