New Delhi: A Gurgaon-based Instagram account featuring a ginger cat has reported earnings of more than Rs 4.5 lakh in 2025, illustrating the growing commercial presence of pet influencers within India’s creator economy.
The cat, named August, is the subject of the Instagram page August, The Ginger Cat. The earnings figure was disclosed through a publicly shared income statement posted on the account on 30 December, offering a rare, transparent look at how pet-led social media profiles are monetised.
According to the post, the account recorded no income at the start of the year. Revenue began to build gradually before peaking in April, when the page generated Rs 1.4 lakh in a single month. The account is managed by August’s owner, who operates it between Gurgaon and Nagaland.
The monthly earnings data reflects the uneven nature of influencer marketing, with income fluctuating throughout the year. After earning Rs 33,000 in February, the account returned to zero revenue in March before the April spike. Subsequent months showed intermittent brand activity, with earnings ranging between Rs 24,000 and Rs 52,000, before rising again to Rs 95,000 in December. The total income for the year exceeded Rs 4.5 lakh.
The content centres on stylised photographs and short videos, often featuring the cat dressed in accessories such as pearl necklaces and bows. While visually distinctive, the account’s growth appears to have been driven by consistent posting rather than viral reach alone.
In the accompanying caption, the account owner framed the milestone as a reflection of persistence rather than scale, noting that the earnings represented gradual progress following a year that began without any revenue.
August’s rise coincides with broader changes in India’s digital advertising landscape. Pet-focused content has increasingly attracted interest from brands operating in categories such as pet food, grooming and lifestyle products, as companies look to engage niche but loyal online audiences.
