New Delhi: Content creator Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as The Rebel Kid, has spoken about her growing fatigue with content creation and her plans to step away from social media. She also reflected on the challenges and controversies she has faced over the past year.
In an interview with The Indian Express, Mukhija discussed the impact of her participation in the reality series The Traitors.
"I have evolved a lot after The Traitors. When the show was released, I realised that I had to enjoy this. I just wanted to have fun being a reality TV star, which helped me see everything objectively, if there was a negative article about me that’s iconic, I love it and want more of it," she said.
Commenting on the commercialisation of social media, she added, "People pay to get a news article about them. I don’t even have to move my finger, and there is a news article about me. It is all like a circus now, and it’s about me. Imagine a very reputable channel putting me in the headline because that gets them clicks, that’s power."
Speaking about her plans to retire from content creation, Mukhija stated, "I want to retire from content creation. I have been doing it for too long, so I want to do something else. I am working on something else. If it pans out great, if it doesn’t, then I am always doing content."
Mukhija has been in the news several times in 2025. Early in the year, she faced backlash following her appearance on Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent, due to unsavoury remarks made by another guest.
She was criticised for responding to a contestant with vulgar remarks, which led to multiple complaints being filed in Mumbai. The National Commission for Women also took note and summoned Apoorva along with Samay Raina and YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia.
In addition, Mukhija attracted further attention when her ex-boyfriend posted a song about her on social media, keeping her in the public spotlight.
