New Delhi: Today the Gauhati High Court has confirmed the earlier temporary bail given to YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani. This means he will not be arrested in the case filed by the Guwahati Police, which accuses him of promoting obscenity. The court's decision provides him with continued protection while the investigation continues.
An FIR was lodged concerning allegations of promoting obscenity on comedian Samya Raina’s show India's Got Latent, where podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia made distasteful remarks.
Today, Justice Mridul Kumar Kalita passed the order confirming the interim protection of Chanchlani.
"Considering the fact that no specific allegation is levelled against the petitioner in the FIR and the petitioner is ready to cooperate in the investigation. Moreover, one of the co-accused has already been granted protection by the Supreme Court of India. Hence, in the meanwhile, the petitioner is directed to appear before the Investigating Officer of Cyber P.S. Case No. 03/2025, within a period of 10(ten) days from the date of this order and co-operate in the investigation. If he does so within the stipulated period of time, in the event of his arrest in the aforesaid case, he shall be allowed to go on interim bail," the Court had ordered on February 18.
