New Delhi: A court in Hisar on Monday remanded YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra to judicial custody till 9 June in a case involving allegations of contact with Pakistani Intelligence Officers (PIOs).

Malhotra was arrested by Hisar Police on May 16 under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Official Secrets Act. Following her arrest, she was initially placed in police custody for five days, which was later extended by an additional four days. On Monday, she was presented before a judicial magistrate, who ordered her remand to judicial custody.

According to the police, three mobile phones, a laptop, and other electronic devices were seized from Malhotra and have been sent for forensic analysis. During her time in custody, she was also interrogated by other investigating agencies.

As reported across several news outlets circulating about the case, Hisar Police recently issued a press statement to dispel rumours. The statement clarified that, so far, there is no evidence suggesting that Malhotra had access to military, defence, or strategic information. The forensic results of the electronic devices are still awaited.

The police also stated that no links have been established between Malhotra and any terrorist organisation, nor is there any indication of her involvement in any terrorist activity. Furthermore, investigators have found no evidence of her being married to any PIO or of converting to another religion.

The case remains under investigation.
