New Delhi: Instagram's microblogging platform, Threads, has introduced a new 'Use Media' feature, allowing users to share photos and videos from other posts without the need for quote-posting.
This update aims to streamline the sharing process while ensuring proper credit is given to content creators.
The 'Use Media' function was announced by Instagram head Adam Mosseri, who described it as a quick and easy way for users to add their creative takes to trending images and clips.
The feature enables users to select media from another post via a long press, after which they can add their own text or commentary. The original poster's username appears in the top left corner of the reshared media, providing clear attribution, while a reshare count is displayed in the lower left corner.
This development comes in response to user feedback regarding the need for better content sharing and credit attribution mechanisms on Threads.
Users have the option to tap on the username of the original creator to view all posts that have used their media, with the original post listed at the top for easy reference.
Additionally, creators have control over their content; they can opt out of this resharing feature through their account settings if they prefer not to have their media used by others.
