New Delhi: YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, has spoken out about the controversy surrounding his show India’s Got Latent, clarifying that many of the celebrities who publicly claimed to boycott the podcast were never invited to begin with.
In a recent interview with Prafful Garg, Allahbadia reflected on the fallout and the personal toll it took. “It was a feeding frenzy,” he said. “Some celebrities claimed that they’d even rejected an invite to the show. The truth is that we never invited them in the first place. In such situations, I felt angry at human beings in general. But I realised that the predicament that I was in was a result of my own actions.”
Allahbadia, who has hosted the popular Ranveer Show podcast for over six years, noted that the controversy led to an unexpected but necessary pause. “I couldn’t change the past, but I could change the future. I got a forced break after a crazy, intense six-year podcasting journey. I’m just trying to move on; I’ve tried to forgive a lot of people, even myself, and to a degree, I’ve been successful.”
The backlash began after Allahbadia made controversial remarks about parents and sex during an appearance on comedian Samay Raina’s show. This led to public criticism and statements from various public figures distancing themselves from his podcast.
Singer B Praak was among those who announced that he would not be appearing on the podcast. In a social media video, he said, “I was supposed to appear on a podcast, on BeerBiceps, and we cancelled that. You promote Sanatan Dharma and host so many influential people, still your thinking is so shoddy?”
