New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has questioned social media influencer Anjali Arora, known for the viral song ‘Kacha Badam’, in connection with the 1XBET illegal betting app, according to the news report.

The ED highlighted concerns over a potential surge in unregulated betting platforms in India following the ban on regulated money gaming apps. Officials stated that these platforms could increasingly target users in the country.

Figures cited in the report indicate that illegal betting websites received over one billion visits in the first quarter of this year, with the total value of unregulated gambling estimated at approximately $100 billion.

The investigation forms part of a broader crackdown. Several other personalities have already provided statements, including Bengali actor Ankush Hazra. Actress Urvashi Rautela has reportedly not yet complied with the probe.

Since June, the inquiry has involved former cricketers Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan, along with multiple Tollywood actors, concerning their alleged endorsements of illegal gaming apps.

According to the report, investigators noted that many of these platforms present gambling activities as “skill-based games” to circumvent legal restrictions.

Officials clarified that outcomes are largely determined by chance rather than skill, and that fantasy games involving monetary stakes often operate using rigged algorithms. The ED emphasised that any game involving money at stake is considered gambling under the law.
