New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed that police personnel who make social media reels at sensitive sites will no longer be deployed there. The directive, issued during a late-night review meeting, underscored the need for discipline and decorum during public service duties.
Chairing the meeting in Lucknow, Adityanath emphasised that cleanliness, security, and vigilance must remain top priorities during the festive season.
“This is not merely an administrative responsibility but an act of service and sensitivity. Ensuring the convenience, safety and respect of every devotee is the duty of every officer,” he said, according to an official statement.
The meeting, conducted via video conference, included all divisional commissioners, district magistrates, senior police officials, and administrative officers. Adityanath reviewed preparations for upcoming festivals, including Kartik Purnima, Dev Deepawali, Guru Nanak Jayanti, Dadri Mela (Ballia), and Garhmukteshwar Mela (Hapur).
He stressed that crowd management, cleanliness, and safety measures must be comprehensive as large gatherings of devotees are expected. “Any negligence will not be tolerated,” he cautioned.
The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure adequate lighting, floating barriers, CCTV coverage, mobile toilets, health sub-centres, changing rooms, and lost-and-found booths at all venues. With river levels running high, he also ordered the deployment of SDRF and NDRF teams and prohibited boating without life jackets.
Adityanath called for “extra vigilance” in districts such as Varanasi, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Hapur, Muzaffarnagar, Amroha, Badaun, and Ballia, where significant footfall is expected.
The Chief Minister also reviewed issues including paddy procurement, compensation for rain-affected crops, and the supply of fertilisers and improved seeds. He instructed that farmers’ compensation be disbursed promptly and warned against interference from middlemen in the procurement process.
Taking a strict view of illegal mining, Adityanath ordered surprise inspections by special teams and said action would be taken against any officials found negligent.
He further directed district magistrates to personally inspect cow shelters and ensure adequate fodder, water, and medical care. Timely payments to ASHA, Anganwadi, cooks, and other honourarium-based workers were also ordered.
The meeting also reviewed the ‘Viksit Uttar Pradesh @2047’ campaign, with Adityanath noting that over 72 lakh suggestions had been received from districts including Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Hardoi, Pratapgarh, Bijnor, Gorakhpur, Bareilly, Sonbhadra, and Gonda. He said the initiative should reflect public participation to make the state’s development roadmap more inclusive and effective.
