Wavemaker, a media, content and technology agency from GroupM, has announced the launch of its debut content production venture ‘Spirit of Scotland’, specially created for a few Pernod Ricard brands — Glenlivet, Aberlour, Ballantine, Chivas and The Royal Salute.

Hosted by Bollywood star Kunal Kapoor, the show is a five-part exploration series focusing on the lesser known facets of Scotland. It showcases the interesting and captivating features of Scottish culture and takes the viewer on a breath-taking visual journey into what makes Scotland truly remarkable.

Talking about the series, Karthik Nagarajan, Chief Content Officer, said, “We are extremely happy that our first-ever production is about an experience called Scotland. Crafted specifically for the audience with a discerning taste, the series explores the diversity of experiences that Scotland has to offer — from the fascinating northern lights to their indigenous culinary history, to the luxury hospitality and their crowning glory — their legendary distilleries, home to brands like Glenlivet, Aberlour, Ballantine, Chivas and The Royal Salute. We take great pride in this content and hope it will bring Scotland alive both on television and digital screens, later this month.”

Spirit of Scotland is an ode to the country through its legends, culture, landscapes and scotch whisky.

The five-part series to be aired on Times Now and ET Now and would see Kunal Kapoor visiting people and places which are an embodiment of this romance.

Watch the series here:

Episode 1:  Revel In The Moment

In this episode, Kunal explores the mystical Glamis Castle with Scottish travel photographer James Wright, traverses the highlands of the Cairngorms National Park to see the Northern Lights and ends his journey at the home of the original single malt — The Glenlivet Distillery!

Episode 2: Savour The Artisanal Spirit

There’s an intuitive connection between nature and the Scottish psyche. To savour the famous Scottish palate, Kunal takes a culinary journey around the country, stopping by Glasgow for delicious haggis, and the Aberlour village for an introduction to malt whisky’s quintessential ingredient: barley. But the cherry on the cake is a food and whisky pairing session at the beautiful Aberlour distillery!

Episode 3: Sip of Luxury

Luxury fits Scotland like a glove. In this episode, Kunal meets contemporary kiltmaker Howie Nicholsby in his Edinburgh studio and visits Cromlix, a luxury hotel owned by tennis legend Andy Murray. These are all a lead-up to the final destination: Strathisla, the oldest operating distillery in Speyside and Home of the Chivas Regal.

Episode 4: A Toast to The Unswayed

To truly experience Scotland’s culture, Kunal meets the people who have played a role in building it. From golfing champion Gemma Batty to contemporary artist Gordon Wilson, each shows him a different side of the indomitable Scottish spirit. But none more than Ballantine’s Master Blender Sandy Hyslop at his home turf, the Glenburgie Distillery!

Episode 5: Blend of New Royalty

There’s no doubt Scotland has a regal heritage, but by no means is that in the past. In this episode, Kunal experiences the modern embodiments of royalty, whether it’s the Duke of Argyll at his Inverary Castle estate, or the resplendent Royal Yacht Britannia in Leith. But the true ode to royalty is his experience at the Royal Salute Vault, where sips liquid gold reserved for the Monarch.
