New Delhi: A 24-year-old social media influencer from Kerala’s Kasaragod district has died by suicide, according to news reports. The woman, identified as Reshma and known online as Chinnu Papu, had built a following of around two lakh on Instagram through videos centred on rural life and local culture.
She was found at her rented residence in the Uliyathadka area and taken to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and begun an investigation. An autopsy has been ordered, after which the body will be handed over to the family for final rites, according to news reports.
Reshma was a native of Adhur. People close to the family said she had recently gone through a divorce following a love marriage, and the separation had affected her deeply. She is survived by her four-year-old child, who is now in the care of her parents.
Friends, neighbours and fellow content creators described her as quiet and dedicated to her work. On social media, she was known for documenting everyday village life, traditional cooking and lesser-known local spots in and around Kasaragod, often speaking in Tulu.
She typically posted content once a week. Her final post, shared days before her death, featured a commonly used leafy vegetable and received several appreciative comments from followers.
News of her death has prompted tributes from followers and fellow creators, many of whom said the loss came as a shock to the local community and to those who watched her videos.
