New Delhi: Influencer Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as The Rebel Kid, has come under fire on social media following the announcement of her India tour, which is scheduled to take place from October to November this year.

The tour, titled Rebel & Friend’s Energy, is being promoted by Empower Live and Savy India. Announcing the event on Instagram, the organisers wrote: “Rebel & friend’s energy is hitting your city soon! Apoorva aka @the.rebel.kid is going on a nationwide takeover tour. Presented by @empower_live & @savy.ind. India, it’s time to vibe.”

The post quickly drew criticism from users questioning the purpose of the tour. One comment read, “What would she be doing on stage? Talk?” Another remarked: “The world has gone crazy and unfortunately this is getting the support it never should. To teach more slangs, giving disrespect being shown as cool behaviour, no sense life quotes, and the list goes on.”

Others echoed similar sentiments. “Visit my city and do what?” wrote one user. Another asked, “But what will she do in the tour, dance, sing or play some instrument?”

Mukhija, who first gained attention through her social media presence and appearance on India’s Got Latent, has been involved in several controversies this year. In February, she appeared before Mumbai police after complaints linked to the show, where judge Ranveer Allahbadia’s comments caused outrage. She was also accused of making an inappropriate remark.

In March, she was filmed arguing with security staff at singer Sabrina Carpenter’s Paris concert, where she was heard saying, “Mai maar dungi isko (I will hit him),” after being asked to return to her seat. More recently, her former partner Utsav Dahiya released a song on Instagram that many interpreted as a reference to her.

While she has a strong following online, her tour announcement has fuelled doubts about influencers stepping into spaces usually reserved for musicians, comedians, or performers. One critic commented, “Thoda ache talent pe focus karo, rather than having her on your tour… thoda toh talent ka lihaaz rakho.”
